First Day of Summer….

Friday felt like the first day of summer to me. We we’re outside the house and just felt really inspired to take some pictures. So off we went into the woods at the back of our house and this was the result. I’m really pleased with this shot and my husband Loves it so this is dedicated to Sam!

A little background info…

So just a little background about who I am and where I came from…. I’ve been involved in the photographic industry now for 18 years – that makes me feel ancient, but I did start when I was 15! My dad started a One Hour Photo lab in Monaghan, Ireland (my home town) and even at that young age I was heavily involved of all aspects of the business. Several years later, after university, a short stint in the world of finance (yuck) and a one year trip around the world, I found myself drawn back home to take on more of a leadership role in running the family business. This was in 2000 when the digital age of photography was just about to explode! So a bit of re-branding, a lot of investment and a fair amount of sweat and toil later Diamond Imaging was born! We became known for being the experts in all things Digital Photography related in the Monaghan region and I began teaching classes to beginners on “How to use your Digital Camera“

Fast forward a few years and the shop was going from strength to strength. One day, a handsome young American comes in looking for some help with his digital camera and my life took another turn. After much too-ing and fro-ing and lots of long distance phone calls, I end up marrying this cutie and that’s what brings me here to Smyrna, Georgia. Diamond Imaging still goes from strength to strength thanks primarily to my Dad helped out by my Mum and all the staff there. I’m still involved in the business but obviously not as hands on as I was. If your ever near Monaghan – check it out and tell them I sent you and you’ll be sure of extra special treatment!

So CameraShy is a natural progression for me. I’m running my own business, doing what I love which is teaching people and it’s all about my passion – photography! In this blog I intend to post tips, and techniques, links to interesting photo articles and updates on my upcoming classes.
